
Working on river cruise ships – information & requirements
River cruise ships operate on major European waterways such as the Danube, Rhine, and Seine. Depending on the company, they carry 80–200 guests and employ around 35–85 crew members. Contracts are seasonal and usually run from March to November.
Language and professional requirements
Anyone who wants to work on a river cruise ship needs:

Application process
Most shipping companies conduct their interviews between December and February. Temporary Chef Ltd. handles the initial selection of candidates. First step: Complete our online application form and send us the required documents.
Accommodation & meals
Crew members share their cabin with one or two colleagues. All meals are provided free of charge on board.
Working hours
The work on board is intense. They typically work 7 days a week, about 10-12 hours a day. There are no days off, but there are daily free hours that can be used for rest.
